Why aren't you taking action on your dreams?
Oct 18, 2024Ever had an idea that you really wanted to make happen in your life? Like, starting a business, or going on a trip, or redecorating your room. Maybe you talk about it and start educating yourself, gathering photos for your vision board…but then, you don’t DO anything to make it happen for real.
I’ve been there…
It’s easy to talk about an idea..and fun! But then, there’s the work.
Most people I work with aren’t afraid of hard work. In fact, many work themselves to the bone.
So, why aren’t we reaching all of our dreams?
Is it because we aren’t smart enough, don’t have the resources, or someone else is stopping us? Is it because it isn’t meant to be for us?
Nope. Those are just the things we tell ourselves.
Now, before your feathers get too ruffled, there are times when there are legitimate reasons that we need to put a dream/goal on hold.
BUT…more often than not, it’s fear.
Fear of failure.
Fear of success.
Fear of judgment.
Fear of rejection.
Fear of change.
Fear of being seen as a fraud.
Fear of abandonment (or losing important relationships).
Our brains are trying to keep us safe. Familiar feels safe, even if the familiar isn’t what we truly want.
Dreaming is fun and easy.
Change (even when it’s something you want) brings up all of our fears and insecurities. There’s a common saying among entrepreneurs…”If you want a crash course in personal development, start a business because you’ll have to face ALL of your insecurities, shortcomings, and fears.”
Sometimes, we just can’t get out of our own way to go for those dreams. That’s when we have to reach out for support. Getting support to reach your goals may be humbling but it’s way better than living your life wishing things were different.
