A Lot Can Happen In A Year!
Dec 19, 2024We keep a list of words and phrases that inspire us on the wall. One of those phrases is, “A lot can happen in one year!” For me, it’s a super hopeful reminder to go for your dreams. You know, be bold and brave.
Recently, my 12-year-old son was doing a writing assignment. He was asked to pick any of the words or phrases on the wall and write about what it means to him. When I read his version, my heart swelled with pride. When he read those words he didn’t think about dreaming big. His message was really just about hanging on even when things are hard. His message was, if you’re going through something just keep your faith because a lot can happen in a year. He gave some examples of things in his life that had been hard that are now easy. One example was related to a particular skill he had gained in basketball through hard work. He had recently seen a video of himself about a year ago and he noticed the progress. He was amazed at how much he had improved, how much had changed, how much happened in just one year. Some of the goals and dreams that had actually come true with hard work.
While his examples were not about traumas, it’s a reminder that everybody has challenges in their life, and whatever your challenge is…it matters!
So from me and from my sweet 12-year-old son, whatever this season brings for you just remember a lot can happen in a year. Whether you are dreaming big or just wanting to overcome something that feels challenging… a lot can happen in a year. A lot can shift. A lot can change.
And if you’re going through things that feel overwhelming, reach out. You don’t have to go through your challenges alone.
As this year will soon come to a close, it’s a great time to reflect on the year behind us but also to begin to envision where we want to be in a year from now. What’s the big dream? What would life be like if you finally healed, or started the project you’ve been dreaming about, or restored an important relationship, or took an honest look at your life choices to make decisions that were truly aligned with your desires?
You deserve the joy and the peace that you desire and I’m cheering you on!
All my love,
Stacey
